Garlic contains an ingredient called germanium and selenium, which are antioxidants that can actually boost your immune system. Having a strong immune system right now can be a very useful thing, especially with H1N1 being so infectious right now. Back in the 1700's garlic was actually used as a form of vaccine to protect people against the plague.
Kyolic garlic specifically is the best type of garlic out there with the most immunity building ingredients. According to a study conducted by Dr. Tariq Abdullah, "Kyolic killed 20 percent more of the tumor cells in laboratory cultures than did raw garlic. And raw garlic is by itself one of the most potent boosters of your natural killer cells." (http://www.innerself.com/Health/garlic.htm)
Not only does garlic boost your immune system and kill bad cells in your body, but it is also good for your heart and cholesterol. There are actually vitamins found on health store shelves that are purely made out of garlic which comes in a pill form. They are recommended to senior citizens to give them an extra boost of protection for their heart and to assist in keeping their cholesterol down.
If you aren't into trying garlic vitamins, there are many ways in which you can add garlic into your diet. Garlic comes in a minced form, powdered form and can be bought in full cloves. If you aren't a garlic lover, then you'll want to use the powder in foods that have a highly acidic taste, and will cover most of the garlic flavors up. You can also slip some garlic into chicken roasts and red meats. The taste of the chicken and meat will overcome the garlic if intended.
If you are a garlic lover, don't hold back! Put garlic in everything you enjoy eating, there is nothing bad about it. Using a garlic salt, rather than a plain salt can be a great substitute to make in your life. Everyone use's salt on so many different foods throughout the average day, so replacing plain salt with garlic salt will give you the amount of garlic servings you should have in a day's time. Whenever you are frying anything, add some garlic cloves in as well. The garlic oil will blend right into the olive oil and give your foods an added flavor.
All and all if you aren't into taking daily vitamins, the least you can do to keep yourself healthy is by upping your garlic intake. It's easy and it tastes great!
