How to Make a German Apple Cake

Bubba
Over the years I have seen hundreds of recipes for Apple Cake. Most were complex with a litany of ingredients that would confuse even an experienced cook. I wanted a simple recipe that tasted great, preferably with chocolate. (y'all know the more fruit and vegetables the better a recipe is for you) This recipe is mine. I developed it for me and my unique sense of taste, wants and needs. I hope you too will enjoy it and share the link with all your friends... (your enemies too I need the Pvs) It is now time to roll up your sleeves, take off you rings, wash your hands and get cooking. Keep in mind finger licking is optional.

German Apple Cake

Ingredients:

1 German Chocolate Cake mix (your favorite)

½ cup Honey (your favorite)

4 Cups apples pealed, cored, and diced 1" (your favorite)

1 Cup applesauce no sugar added

1 Tablespoon Apple Pie Spice

1 cup California Golden Raisins

1 Cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:

Prehaet oven 375. Grease a 9x13 pan and set aside (spray is OK). Combine apples, nuts, honey, and raisins set aside, Mix applesauce, apple pie spice, and cake mix only till completely moist fold in apple mixture. Batter will be extremely thick. Press into the prepare 9x13 pan and bake50-60 min or till pulls away from sides. Allow to cool completely before frosting.

Frosting

Ingredients:

1- 8oz pkg cream cheese (Room Temp)

1 stick real butter (Room Temp)

1 Tablespoon vanilla

1- 4serving size instant chocolate pudding (fudge is my favorite if you can find it)

2+ cups powdered sugar

Directions:

Whip all ingredients together and spread on completely cooled cake. Leftover frosting? spread between graham crackers for great quick cookies.

Notes:

If you prepare this for a holiday meal better hide it. The cake seems to disappear quickly after it is frosted. I like it enhanced with Candle light, chocolate ice cream, and Hot Columbian Coffee. The Grandchildren love it enhanced with chocolate ice cream and ice cold chocolate milk.

Remember a recipe is like a Rand McNalley road atlas. It can tell you how to get from point "A" to point "B" but not what road to take. Use you imagination.

OK this recipe is now yours. Make it soon. You deserve a great cake tonight. Call the spouse and tell them to bring chocolate ice cream. Light a candle and enjoy some fresh brewed coffee. Mizpah ;-}}>

I don't know about German apple cakes (this one sounds delicious) but in the suburbs of Chicago, German apple PANCAKES are a big deal at the breakfast restaurants.
