How to Make Ghost Chair Covers for Your Classroom

Alicia Bodine

Make covers for your chairs so that they look like ghosts.

Teachers:

Have students bring in an old white sheet. If they don't have one you will need to bring in some extra. You can find some for $.50-$1.00 at the thrift stores if you need to purchase some. Instruct the children to create their own ghost for their chair at their desk by having them watch each of your steps while you do your chair. So pull your chair out in front of the class and have them follow along.

Each student will need:

  1. 1 White Sheet
  2. A pair of Scissors
  3. A black marker
  4. Two safety pins
  5. Ruler

Follow these steps:

  1. Drape the sheet evenly over the chair.
  2. Use the scissors to cut the front of the ghost where the sheet touches the seat.
  3. Use the scissors to cut the back of the ghost where the sheet touches the floor.
  4. Use a safety pin about 2 inches down on each of the sides of the chair. This will make sure that the ghost doesn't slide around and distract the students while they are working.
  5. Have the students draw in some dark eyes with a black marker.
  6. Leave the ghost seat covers on until Halloween is over.
