How to Make a Gift of Love and Endearment Out of a Goblet, a Flower and Some Paper

Chad R. Herman
You're looking for something nice and wonderful to do for someone, and you don't know what to do. Or, you're at a loss for a birthday gift for someone special. This little craft will have anyone, mostly the female gender, loving every bit of it. In order to change it into something the male gender would like, you'll have to use your imagination for that. Not only is this craft great for birthdays and special occasions, it's also great for Valentines, anniversaries, or even just out of the blue. Since this is such an easy thing to create, you'll do it for all of your loved ones as just a neat thing to tell them.

You're going to need a goblet. A goblet is a large piece of stemware, like a wine glass or something like that. You can find these at most yard sales and dollar sales. I don't expect anyone to use the fine crystal, unless you want to. You're going to need a bunch of paper, scissors, and a flower. We'll get into the flower a little later.

Get on the computer and go into the Google search engine. Type in "how to say I love you in different languages" or "terms of endearment". These lists are out there all over the place. There are blogs galore that have listed every single way to say I love you from Pig Latin to Icelandic. There are so many ways to say I love you and I care about you, people have been making these lists forever. Get about 50 of these items, and print them out. Now cut each one of these items out, so that you have 50 little strips of "endearment".

Take your goblet, and flip it over. You're going to fill it up with these pieces of paper, but you have to flip it over first. Make sure you keep at least 2-3 out of the glass. All stemware has a foot or a bottom part, or they would fall over. With your glass flipped over, tape 2-3 on the bottom with the words facing out. When you flip it over, the words are on the foot, and if you use invisible tape, it almost looks like their etched on there. Now begin filling the goblet with your pieces of paper. But don't just throw them in there. Put the scraps of paper in there so that you can see what is written on the pieces of paper from the outside. Make sure you only fill up the goblet to just below the rim. If all 50 pieces of paper don't fit that's ok.

Now we get to the flower. A good big flower that covers the entire top of the goblet is the best kind of flower. If you can get your hand on a bright colored magnolia that would work great. Cut the stem about half way the distance of the length of the "cup" part of the goblet. Place the flower in the goblet, and your piece is done. The nice thing about the flower is that as it wilts, it won't loose it's color much and it will mold to the sides of the goblet. Therefore, if the person leaves it alone they will actually have a goblet with a flower encasing the terms of endearment. Use the right kind of flower, and this is a centerpiece or a shelf item that will last for many weeks, if not months.
