How to Give a Good Speech

Good speakers know that they have to practice using steps that make an interesting effective speech. Learning the right way to give a speech will help you with your school assignments. People who want careers in politics, sports casting, and entertainment can use some lessons in the art of public speaking.

A really good speech is going to inform, amuse, entertain, instruct and sometimes even amaze. This is your chance to have your say, so make sure the topic fits you. You have to care about your topic if you expect your audience to care about it.

The most important part of an assigned topic is to make sure you narrow your speech down to size. If you have only fifteen minutes assigned to your speech you must make it fit. You won't be able to include everything you may want to. Focus on the most important issues that interest you.

If your topic does not bring forth any quick notions, try brainstorming. All you have to do is to write your topic in the center of a sheet of paper. Scribble around the word or phrase with all the ideas that pop in your head. If you still have trouble thinking of a topic, try working at it with a friend. At this point it's just about getting ideas. Be free with these thoughts.

Once you've figured out the possibilities select three string ones and consider them in more depth. Think about which ones would be easier to research considering your time and resources. Think about which ones would be easier for you to talk about and which wound most appeal to your audience.

Most speeches allow you to present only one single strong idea along with your supporting reasons, your argument, and your information. Remember that a speech is not a discussion. They will be listening and not reading. Make it clear and simple because they wont be able to go back and reread a sentence if they're confused.

Begin your speech with your interests. Do you have any personal experiences with the topic. If your job with this speech is to persuade people, them take the position that you believe in. In preparing your speech for your audience, do some research. Find out who your listeners will be. Is your audience teenagers, adults, or both? Are they male, female, or both genders? It can sometimes make a difference in how your speech goes across. Is this a large group or small group? A smaller group will be more attentive and share their opinions more.
