How to Give a Romantic Massage

Robert Borden
If you've been looking for a good way to show your significant other how much you love and care for them, a romantic massage is a good bet. Romantic massages given from one partner to another are free, can be done on the spur of the moment, and really can bring the two of you closer. A nice, long romantic massage can be a great present for a birthday, anniversary, Valentine's Day, or just because and will always be appreciated. Here's some tips on how you can give the very best romantic massage to your significant other:

1. Set a romantic atmosphere. The atmosphere for your massage is very important. Candlelight is always a good, inexpensive way to quickly create a romantic mood. Try lighting several candles throughout the room where you will be giving the massage and turn off all the lights. Music is also a good way to set a romantic mood...I find that Ambient or New Age music always creates a relaxing atmosphere for a massage that is conducive to romance. Sprinkling flower petals on the floor or bed can also help show your romantic intentions.

2. Use a nice lotion or massage oil while you are massaging your partner. Massages always feel better when lotion or massage oil is involved. This helps your hands glide more easily over your partners skin and eliminates any uncomfortable sources of friction. Pick a scent that both you and your partner like, or use something unscented. This doesn't have to be expensive. Good massage oils or lotions can often be obtained at your local "big box" store for just a few dollars. Make sure to warm up the lotion or oil by rubbing it in your hands before applying it to your partner's body, as cold oil or lotion can be uncomfortable.

3. Listen for feedback from your significant other during the massage. As you massage your partner's body, chances are that certain things you do will feel better than others. Listen for their breathing and any sounds they make as you massage them...this can often give you important feedback as to what is feeling good and what isn't. As you move your hands along your partners body, experiment with varying speeds and pressure to find out the way that they like to get massaged the best.

4. Do what feels good and have fun! Remember, there is no right or wrong way to give a romantic massage. Just make sure you are having fun with it! Touch your partner wherever and however feels good for both of you. If you follow that simple rule, then your romantic massage is virtually guaranteed to turn out great! Besides for touching your partner with your hands, try incorporating kisses and body contact into your massage for added passion and intensity. Give it a try....your boyfriend, girlfriend, or spouse just might come back begging for another romantic massage soon!
