How to Give Yourself a Health Makeover

C. Sherwood
If you feel like you are constantly tired and can barely look at yourself in the mirror anymore, maybe it's time for a health makeover. Even small steps towards leading a healthy life can not only make you feel better, but can also add years to your life.

Get off your chair. Half the battle of a health makeover is getting out of your chair and getting active. Little things make a huge difference. Need to go grocery shopping? How about parking your car further away and walking. Is it sunny outside? Stop just looking at the outdoors, get out there and experience it. Go for a walk. You don't have to be a marathon runner to be active.

Find activities you love. It may be intimidating to go to a gym and work out every day. So instead, why not start with doing something you love. To a moderate hike in nature, try rock climbing, go swimming, there are so many great outdoor activities that you can do to help change your life and give yourself a health makeover.

Say not to diet, and yes to eating healthier. Crash diets do not work in a health makeover. The idea is for your new habits to be livable and permanent. Take baby steps. One week buy a new vegetable. The next week try a healthy recipe. Maybe just replace one of your cokes with a bottle of water or diet coke each day. One Coke a day will save you over 36,500 calories over the course of a year. Baby step with huge results.

Try the gym. You don't have to be a gym junkie, or even take a class. However, simple things like weight training or just a half hour on an eliptical can do wonders for your health makeover. If you feel people are looking at you, don't worry about it. They are probably too absorbed in their own work out to notice you
