Vitamins.
What we put on the inside shows on the outside. Try to eat a balanced diet that contains plenty of vitamins as they all do their jobs to keep skin looking healthy.
Vitamin C: Possibly the most important vitamin for skin, it is an anti oxidant that protects skin from ultra violet rays. It delays pigmentation due to ageing and sun exposure. It is essential for the formation of collagen and elastin, these help the skin to retain its elasticity, and without it the skin becomes more wrinkled.
It is also necessary to prevent and reduce scarring.
Vitamin E: Another anti oxidant that helps fight the damaging free radicals present in the body. It has been shown to play an important role in anti aging when applied topically or taken orally. It keeps skin moisturized and hydrated and avoids flaky dry skin.
Iron: Did you know that 50% of Americans have an Iron deficiency? Iron is responsible for oxygenating the blood. Without it, the skin looks dull, tired and dry and with dark circles under the eyes.
Omega 3: Now widely used in the beauty industry, omega 3 will help to keep your skin moisturized, it has been used in the treatment of psoriasis because of its moisturizing properties and also in the treatment of acne because of its ant inflammatory qualities.
Water: Have you ever looked at someone's skin when they are dehydrated? It's pale, dull, dry and flaky. Make sure you sip water throughout the day to keep your skin looking smooth and healthy. Try sipping hot water with a little lemon juice in it, this will help to flush out toxins and give you a boost of vitamin c at the same time.
Exfoliate: Use a gentle exfoliator with small grains to remove the dead skin cells that might be making your face look dull or tired. Large grain exfoliants will often do more harm than good, as they tend to scratch the skin. Rub on to damp skin in small circular motions, don't be too harsh or you will damage your skin, rinse thoroughly.
Moisturise: Try to look for a moisturiser that contains extracts of vitamin C, it will help even out your skin tone and add a healthy glow to your cheeks. Apply whilst skin is still warm and damp, use gentle upward strokes. You can also buy moisturisers that give you a "glow" but use these sparingly as too much will make your skin look greasy
Exercise: Just 30 minutes of exercise a day will really improve your circulation, which will do wonders for your skin. It will make your skin look healthier and brighter. It doesn't have to be too vigorous, just something that gets you slightly out of breath. If you are not used to exercise, try walking briskly for half an hour.
