How to Go Green Around Your Home

Candus
Have you decided to find ways to go green around your home? If your like me I worry about our planet and what some of the chemicals and pollution may be doing to our health as well as our bodies. I have started looking at what I can do to pitch in and do my part. It takes everyone just doing a little something and it adds up and can make a world of a difference.

Things you can do to start going green around your home are saving those brown grocery store bags and turning them into birthday wrapping paper and Christmas paper and wrap your own box and take to post office instead of purchasing that paper at a store. Stickers, markers and paint can add a splash to help decorate the paper.

Make your very own house hold cleaners. Use some dish soap and vinegar and water and add some lemon and you have a clean fresh scent that will keep everything shiny. It cost allot less than all of your old cleaning supplies and better for the environment.

Take your old tissue boxes and use them over again. They are great to hold small gifts and then wrap with your brown paper. Never toss out milk jugs either. Cut the lid off and put in some soil and a few seeds and you have your own potted plant.

Unplugging your appliances when your not using them will also help save all the extra vamp. If your not using it unplug it and watch how much more money you save too. Grab a pair of socks when you think it's chilly in the house or lift the blinds and let the natural sun light in instead of flipping on a light switch.

Try to find other alternatives to getting places such as work, school etc. You can ride a bike, scooter or walk. The best thing is to have less cars on our roads and maybe car pooling would work for you and your neighbors.

Drinking your own tap water is better for you than buying plastic water bottles. If you don't like the taste of your water you can always buy a water purifier and have it installed. When you eat organic foods from local farmers you are helping to keep funds within your community.

Plant your own garden and contribute the extras you may have to other family and neighbors. Use up all of your extra waste food as compost and fill it in a bowl each day then at night take it and dump it in the garden.

Try not to buy books but go to the Library or borrow from friends or family as much as you can. This saves from having to package and make so many books. Use firewood instead of your heat and try replacing your shower heads if their not spraying out properly.

When doing your laundry you can always use products that are green and instead of using the dryer to dry your clothes why not install a clothes line and hang them to dry with the natural sun. Your clothes will come out allot fresh smelling this way.

There are many things you can do to help your planet and your community. You will also help your pocket book or wallet as well because some of these ideas I've given you will save you money as well.
