The environment has always been an important issue to the residents of Huntington Beach, as well as it's city government. Check out the City's website page dedicated to making Huntington Beach green at: http://www.ci.huntington-beach.ca.us/Residents/green_city/. You'll find links to Green Building and other residential programs, water conservation, Adopt-A-Beach, green technology and more.

Huntington Beach Green Guide is a great resource as well for eco-friendly information and businesses in Huntington Beach and surrounding communities. You can take the Live Impact test to find out your eco-friendly score, or use the Green IQ calculator to measure how green consumers truly are. View the calendar for upcoming earth-friendly events, or check out the green businesses available under the Resources section.

Simple Green is headquartered in Huntington Harbour on Pacific Coast Highway, and has been a provider of environmentally friendly cleaning products for more than thirty years. Check out their website for cleaning tips and quick-mix guides of their popular organic products. You'll be able to find information on how to clean everything from your doors and windows to your boat dock, while supporting a locally owned company!

At SoCal WaterSmart you can get information on rebate programs offered for high efficiency toilets and washing machines, irrigation controllers and sprinkler nozzles, all brought to you by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWDOC) and the Family of Southern California Water Agencies.

Huntington Beach's official trash removal company, Rainbow Disposal, picks up sorted items (plastic/glass/paper) as part of their weekly schedule, but there are also several drop-off or self-service recycling centers. At Beachside Recycling Center (8601 Edison Avenue), you can drop off newspaper, office paper, corrugated cardboard, and CRV beverage containers, and earn a few extra dollars in the process. Beachside Recycling takes recycled paper and manufactures a Cal-Trans Cellulose fiber mulch which is used for erosion control and lawn cultivation here in California. It's a great way to keep the recycling process "evergreen"!

Committing to make eco-friendly changes to our daily lives is an important factor in the success of Huntington Beach's sustainability.
