Crunches and sit ups only strengthen and tone up the abdominal muscles that are buried deep under your stomach fat, without actually doing anything to help you get rid of that stomach fat, so you end up with a perfectly toned stomach that no one can see, because its covered up by your belly fat.
So in order to get a flat, sexy stomach, or rather in order to get rid of the fat that's covering up the flat, sexy stomach that you already have, you need a simple, and effective diet plan to supplement your workout routine, and more importantly to stick to that diet plan. As much as possible avoid processed foods and foods that are rich in fat. Complex carbohydrates, lean protein, fiber rich foods, and lots of veggie and fruits should be the main components of your diet. You also need to carry out cardio exercises, because cardios use up a lot of calories thereby helping your body to burn off excess fat in the process. The benefits of cardio is that not only will you burn off stomach fat, you'll also get rid of fat around your thighs, hips, and other parts of your body.
While abdominal workouts alone do not really help a lot when it comes to getting rid of stomach fat, they are terrific at toning up your stomach, which is why you should combine your diet plan together with your abs workout routine. The abs workouts help to strengthen your abdominal muscles, and tone up your stomach, while your diet plan helps to get rid of your belly fat. The only kinds of abs workouts you need to focus on are crunches, and sit ups but if you are really active you can also add like leg lifts.
With cardio, you can do anything from jogging, cycling, swimming, or even skipping. Aim to carry them out in short bursts, followed by a period of rest. For example jog for 10 minutes, then slow down to a gentle 20 minute walk, then at the end of that 20 minutes,break into another 10-minute jog. Do your cardio exercises at least 3 - 4 times a week.
