The year 2012 is definitely a year of technology for many. Let's face it technology has really come a long way over the past several years. Now even moms are starting to bring technology into the kitchen by going paper free. Going paper free in the kitchen certainly has many advantages. For starters you will have less clutter, and you will also spend less money on printing paper and ink. It can also cut down on the amount of time you spend looking for recipes. So how can you get started, keep reading below to find five ways to get your kitchen paper free.
IPad is a must
An IPad can easily be placed on a stand in the kitchen to make it easy to access and read. Using the IPad you can look up recipes and read them as you go. I really like this feature since many recipes now have easy to follow pictures that make it easier to make the dishes. Be sure to purchase this first before getting rid of all your paper items.
Save the sites
If you have found most or some of your recipes on a variety of websites than you need to save the website links so that they are easy to find later. If you already have these recipes printed out than you can get rid of them. Some websites allow you to create your own recipe box and save your favorite recipes there. One site that allows you to do this is foodnetwork.com.
Get rid of the paper copies
Next you will need to get rid of the paper copies that you have. If you have old recipes that you just don't wont to toss away, then you can easily take pictures, or scan these recipes. If you have taken papers of the recipes than upload them to your ipad or computer to save it. Some have chosen to your blogs as their online recipe storage area. Make sure that each time you upload a recipe you get rid of the paper copy.
Find the right spot
After you have all of the recipes where you need them on your IPad you are ready to find just the right spot in your kitchen. Don't place your IPad anywhere near the stove. A counter that does not have much on it, usually the one where you do your chopping or cutting. This will be your dedicated Ipad space.
Keep it clean
Remember that you are in the kitchen, so you will want to work hard at keeping your IPad clean. You can keep a hand towel near by to dust any small ingredients up, and keep liquids away. The counter where you place your IPad is also where you never want to put any liquids. This way you will not risk getting your IPad wet in any way. Also before touching the screen make sure your hands are clean. Some have chosen to adjust the size of the page they are viewing so that you don't have to scroll up or down to see the entire recipe.
