How God Uses Dreams to Guide and Direct Our Paths

Dreams Are Sometimes Gods Way of Sending Us Messages

Malina Debrie
In the Bible, we are provided and entertained with the story of Joseph. If you remember, Joseph could interpret dreams. In a dream, Pharaoh was warned of a famine in the land. Only he did not realize what the dream meant. Joseph interpreted the dream and by God's grace, he was instrumental in saving the land.

In the book of Acts 2:17, Peter preached that "in the last days, God says, I will pour out My spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams." According to God's promise, in the last days, people will dream with more frequency.

I often guide my children in the Lord and having faith. I tell them Faith will move mountains. I generally provide parables on acts of faith in the Bible and how a persons faith will take them where nothing else can. Dreams are somethimes messages to help us and increase our faith. God speaks to us in our dreams. If we listen, He will guide us through our problems, deliver us in time of need and give when we ask. Not just that, but through Faith, God provides miracles.

I published a picture of my home on AC a few weeks ago. You can see it here. In the caption, I indicated that God gave me and my family this home. We fail to realize at times that nothing is ours. Everything we have is just on loan. Everything upon this earth is God's. He just loans these items to us for our pleasure while here.

I was not surprised when my realtor drove up in front of this house during my search for a new home. I had seen the house in a dream. God had given me a preview of my home before it was even built.

You see, my faith is such that I believe everything God says. I believe His promises, every one of them, to us in His word. If God says it, I believe it to be true. I also believe that if I ask Him, in the name of His Son Jesus, for anything according to His will, it will be done.

In a conversation with another writer here on AC, I mentioned that I take God at His word. If He says He will provide my every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19), I believe it. If He says the earth is the Lords and the fullness thereof and they that dwell therein (Psalms 24:1), I believe it. My faith is such that like the woman with the issue of blood (Mark 25: 25-34). I believe if I have an issue of any kind and I can touch the hem of His garment I know I will be healed.

My faith did not grow over night. It took a while and God working with me to increase my faith to the level it is today. I believe in my Father and I know He will deliver on His promises. Sometimes we have to remind Him of His word. Not because He has forgotten, but because He wants to make sure we are listening, reading, know and are trusting in His word.

When I had the dream regarding my home, it was after a series of prayers asking to be moved from the neighborhood I was in. At the time, I did not realize the amount of envy, jealousy and evil that was consuming some of my neighbors. My family's financial status had increased. Even though it had, we had not changed. We enjoyed our neighborhood and some of our neighbors. So I had not thought of moving. When things began to happen to our home and cars and then a snake was placed in our mailbox, I realized we had to leave.

It seemed that with each home we tried to move into, something happened. We had a home built from the ground up. When it was time for closing, we discovered the builder messed up the walls in one of the rooms and they were slanted. We discovered this problem during the walk through. In discussing the problem with the builder, he indicated, which was his attempt to discourage us, that if he had to fix the room, it would be almost impossible without rebuilding the home. He went on to say that rebuilding would take another six months.

We decided to try another site and the builder agreed to build the same floor plan on the new lot. When we went to view the new lot, there was a power line running the distance of the land from front to the back and several miles down. I was not going to build a house or live in a house near a power line. In fact, our specifications were that we would have underground utilities.

The next home seemed to be fine, yet when we got to closing, there were problems with the loan. It appeared we were just not going to get into our home. The night of this last catastrophe, I had the dream, saw the house I am in now and knew God was working it out for me and my family. I realized my dream was telling me to wait on the Lord (Psalms 37:9).

Several years before my retirement, I asked God to show me and help me to leave the job. I told Him that I knew He had plans for me other than remaining at the company. I had seen His spirit moving me from the job to another higher plain. I was guided to wait on Him. I received confirmation to wait in a dream and through several spiritual contacts.

Our dreams are vital in hearing from God. God uses different means to communicate with us. Not always is it through one form. Like the flowers and creatures He created for us to enjoy, God is diverse.

Don't discount a message in your dream. You could be hearing from God.

If you do not have a license to do ministry, you certainly deserve one.

Malina, I'm so happy I came upon this article! Your faith is an inspiration, and a model for others to emulate. I too have prophetic dreams, but I don't always understand them clearly. It's later than I look back and see that the dream is confirmation of something I have to do or decide today. I remember the slide show of your beautiful home. It does indeed seem to be a gift from God! I am going to subscribe to you, hoping for more inspiring articles! Your sister in Christ!

Malina, I appreciate your openness with your faith in God. You are a living testimonial. God is faithful to those who follow him.

The truth is so simple, yet so many miss it. You have expressed one of the most critical components of living a life of assurance. You make it clear that you acknowledge God as the provider, the organizer, and the one who delivers. You are so right, Malina. God uses all of our senses as a means of communicating his will for our life, dreams included. Many are nervous about speaking in this manner. You have done well, my sister in Christ. Very well indeed.
