We all have them sitting in our home. Boxes of old pictures lying around, or in old photo albums that need a facelift. There never seems to be enough wall space to hold all of those pictures. One thing I have learned over the years is that pictures are a valuable part of a persons life. They should be shared and looked at not stored away. The key is to turn your old pictures into artwork. Below you will find a few ideas on how to transform your pictures.
Large frames a must
Instead of looking at small picture frames that hold just one picture, it is best to purchase a large frame. Using a large frame you can make a collage out of your pictures. Visit local thrift stores, yard sales, or look at craigslist, for large picture frames that you can use.
Think outside the box
The frames don't actually have to be picture frames. Have you ever been to a yard sale, where they have old paintings, that no one would ever consider putting up on a wall? Well the picture may not be a good one, but the frame holding the picture may be in perfect shape. When you remove the picture, you can use a piece of cardboard to use as the backing for the pictures. Or perhaps you can use an old mirror. Some mirrors have very nice frames. If you remove the glass you can use the frame to hold the pictures.
Give them a fresh look
Sometimes when we store away old pictures, they get wrinkled, crinkled and damaged. Or perhaps they are just old and start to fade a little. There is something you can do however to give them a fresh new look. Start by getting a large piece of cardboard and laying it on the floor. You can then arrange the pictures on top of the cardboard, so that none of the cardboard is showing. Then use a camera to take another picture of all the pictures nicely arranged. You can then upload the picture to your computer, and use a picture program to change it to black and white, or give it more of a unified look. Then using picture paper, print out the new picture blown up. Or you can send it right to the photo shop from your computer and have it enlarged. Then it will easily fit inside of the new frame that you have.
