Do not confuse Google Gas with Google Gas Stations. Google Gas Stations is a concept in which Google will be have imbedded maps and directions available from the gas pump. But let's talk about what is on everyone's mind. How do we find the cheapest gas, all of the time? Let's Google Gas for the cheapest gas in Columbus, Ohio by using the Google search engine.

1) From your internet browser, type in Google Maps

2) Type the words: cheap gas in Columbus, Ohio (or your city and state)

3) From the search options hyperlink, Select User-Created Content located on the left of the screen.

4) Type the words GasBuddy.com

5) Click on the Placemark hyperlink to bring up the gas price, street, city and state.

That's it. With Google Gas, you should have many choices of low gas prices and locations to choose from. However, you will still have to go to GasBuddy.com. But compared to accessing it through their site and Google Gas, to Google Gas is much, much more fun. I like it because you can click on the hyperlinks to immediately obtain the information you need.

Accessing the data directly through GasBuddy.com is a bit stressful because of all of the website word content that must be visually scanned. It is hard to focus on what you need: Cheap Gas.

Another gas pricing web site is GasPrices.Mapquest.com. It lists the name of the gas station directly on the map. The visuals make is so easy to find the gas station closest to you. The best way to access this feature is to input your zip code as opposed to using the other search methods from this site. If you look at the top left corner of the screen, you will see the lowest and highest prices listed next to each other. This is a handy analytical feature. The gas stations and their respective prices are shown to the left of the screen. You just hover your mouse over the hyperlinks to the left and the gas station stats are listed along with their phone numbers. A quick call to the station is recommended before venturing out.

At first glance, GasPriceWatch.com looks like a really good site to check out. I was wondering how up-to-date these prices are and bingo! Here's a site that gives you the option to search for the latest updates from 8-72 hours old. Oh, oh. Some of the data is not listed. Nor are the phone numbers of the gas stations.

A final thought: If you drive out a gallon's worth of gas to get to the gas station selling the lowest priced gas, it may be better to stay closest to home for true overall savings. Otherwise, if you are going to search for the cheapest gas, Google Gas.
