How Google PageRank Updates Affect AC Producers

Implications in Google Search

Christine Cadena
Each quarter, Google performs a widespread PageRank update. Without going into a lot of detail, Google PR does matter in terms of qualitative assessment of your website, including your Associated Content Producer profile page. Using an algorithm, Google conducts these updates in an effort to manage the perceived authority of websites. While it does not affect the position in the natural and organic search results, it may affect the perceived quality of your webpage content and, therefore, it is important to CPs.

No one truly knows what the Google PageRank algorithm is. What we do know is that onpage SEO and offpage SEO is vital to gaining Google PR and, therefore, Associated Content Producers should be familiar with not only the importance of optimizing their onpage SEO but also to aggressively work to promote offpage SEO for their profile page.

So, what is offpage SEO work? An example would be link building. For my profile page, the content is well established and is modified regularly by my content development for Associated Content. To build my offpage SEO integrity, I engage in active link building - link building that is internal to my own content as well as encouraging external linking to my profile page. To gain internal links, I routinely highlight keywords in my own content and hyperlink that keyword to my other pieces of work. For external link building, I may contact website owners who would have an interest in my topics and ask them to link to my page as a resource. Custom RSS feeds, offered here at Associated Content, is also a great way to build external links back to your site.

So, what is your Google PR? How many backlinks do you have to your profile page? As Google completes its quarterly PageRank updates over the next 10 days, get in the know. Find out what your PageRank is and how you can improve your statistics so the next update will realize optimal results for you as a Content Producer.
