How I Got Four Tickets to a Sporting Event for the Price of One

Jimmy Collins

I am a sports nut and I love going to live sporting events. However, with the prices of tickets these days it is a stretch on my budget, especially since my boys are now also getting into sports. Add that fact to having a wife who also loves sports and a nice family outing can cost big bucks.

Recently I found a way in which I could get the tickets for different sporting events that I wanted to get and pay just a fraction of the cost. As funny as it may sound, I owe it all to my wife.

Happy Birthday

This year my wife's birthday falls on a Saturday in September. It also happens to fall on a Saturday where our favorite college football team is playing at home, which is about two hours from us. I figured this would not only be a great birthday present for my wife, but that the kids would love it too as they have yet to go to a college football game.

Then I checked the prices. For tickets in the nose bleed section I was looking at $45 each. Suddenly, facing a $180 gift, the idea lost its luster. Then I stumbled upon something else.

Online to the Rescue

I found a place online called StubHub that sells tickets for every sporting event imaginable and for every other ticketed event as well. I discovered this place by searching online for 'discounted sporting event tickets' and was shocked with how much I could save.

I used their interactive map to find the best seats I could just to see what they would cost. There I was staring at four tickets in the lower section, third row and they were only $15 each. I quickly looked up the price of what those seats would cost me if I bought through the box office and I found out that they were $65 each. So for less than the price of one ticket, I was going to be able to get the four that I wanted.

Skeptical to Say the Least

Needless to say I was skeptical. Instead of ordering online, I called in a spoke to a customer service rep. After spending over an hour on the phone I felt good enough to place the order. The end price was around $85 and that included shipping and service fees. Within seconds of my order I received all the confirmation I needed to rest assured I would get the tickets in more than enough time before the event. Should anything happen I get a full refund.

More than One Way to Skin a Cat

So, like so many other things in life today, you can save money by going online. The place I used is only one of many similar online places, but they were perfect for what I was looking for. Now my family and I are off to see our college football team in action for my wife's birthday and we have unbelievable seats to enjoy as well.
