How I Got My Hot 500 Badge at Associated Content

Freelance writing is not always rewarding in the ways we would like. You hope to make money with freelance writing and possibly get your name known. Here at Associated Content you also have a chance to get rewards or badges such as the Hot 500 or Hot 100.

In March 2010 Associated Content came up with a new badge reward to put on content producers profile pages. I was lucky enough to receive one of these smart looking Hot 500 badges. Needless to say, I was so excited to see the new badge on my profile I had to write an article about it.

Associated Content just popped these badges on the writers profiles without a heads up that they were coming. So 500 people got a little surprise when they went to write an article or check on page views.

There are two different Hot badges a Hot 100 and a Hot 500. Associated Content states that to get a Hot Badge you must have, "... the largest audience, and most engaged readers, viewers and listeners. ...based on the previous month's page views."

For the month of February I had gotten around 28,000 page views. I also had two articles published that performed very well during the month.

I consider myself lucky to have earned the Hot 500 badge. Although I would have preferred to get the Hot 100 Badge, but that may come another day. I feel that the new badge looks great up next to my Top 1,000 badge I received for all of my work from the previous year.

The Hot 500 Badge looks like it will be a monthly item and could disappear or appear at any time at the beginning of each month. The Hot 500 Badge may be here today and gone tomorrow. That is another reason I am writing this article, to commemorate the earning of my Hot 500 badge into history, just incase it never reappears.

Unfortunately getting the Hot 500 Badge for freelance writers does not come with more money. What the badge does is give some of us writers a little recognition. It also alerts out readers that they are reading articles from one of the top writers at Associated Content.
