Thanks Michelle. I have heard that many people are turning to this type of degree for its fast results and yes, employers do seem to like them a lot. Thanks for reading and commenting.

My sister picked up an Associates of Applied Science degree - those are hot tickets nowadays. People are liking the applied part of it, because employers know that these folks have had hands on training. I think "applied" degrees are going to become the next trend in college degrees. She was in and out in about 19 months all said and done, and nearly doubled her salary from retail sales. Good info.

Thank you Sherri and thank you "Reader". Yes, obviously the rating is not based on quality but rather based on who is lonely, miserable and desperate to push their name into the top rated position. I say let 'em have it. The ratings are a joke and we all know it... Anyone with the ability to read can figure that out. Thanks to the both of you and all those that have left comments. My writing speaks for itself and I am very well paid so I don't mind it a bit. Have a great day!

WOW! Great article... what's with the rating? Who could possibly have a gripe about this? Must be the lame little stalkers making the rounds to the good work. (*sigh) Jealousy, it is such a pitiful thing.

My daughter is currently taking courses to become an animator. She draws like a professional, but she wants to kick it up a notch and use her creative intellectual side and turn it into something more then just drawing on paper. You have some great careers listed that should remain in demand for the next decade or so.

You are very welcome Donna! So many people have no idea how easy it can be to earn a degree.

Thank you for this Manda. I e-mailed the link as well. I've been pondering about community college for the past 7 years - to think I could have finished long ago (great article!).

Good for you, your education is a good thing regardless of what shallow people may say. Oh, and as for the 'dramatic' shallow to deep end of the pay spectrum it is usually defined as begining pay to the most you can make with that job.

  • Melissa F.3/21/2007

Oh, and for anyone considering going back to school - you can get a fabulous education at a community college for a fraction of the price of a 4-year university, and you can always transfer to a 4-year after you get your associate's to earn your bachelor's. My tuition is about 1/6 of the price of local 4-year universities. Who'll be giving who hell when it's time to pay back all those student loans, hmm??

  • Melissa F.3/21/2007

I'm currently in community college to get my Associate's in Visual Communications with a concentration in Web Design. It always amazes me to see salary estimates, because they're always given with such broad spectrum. I mean "$20,000-$100,000 yearly" - that's a HUGE difference. I want to know who's in charge of making these salary claims, someone needs to get those folks some truth serum so they'll just come off it already...lol. Oh, on Webmasters - you have to take computer science, mathematics AND graphic/web design classes. Computer science is the "back side" of the web, and graphic/web design is the "front side." In order to be an actual Webmaster, you must learn both - the term Webmaster is used WAY too loosely! Great article - thanks for recognizing associate's degrees, I've been getting a lot of hell for not attending a 4-year college. It's nice to see someone giving credit to the 2-year degrees!
