How to Be a Great Mom, a Great Career Woman and a Great Woman

While Superman may have made a career out of saving the world, he didn't have the stress of keeping a family happy and healthy, as well as keeping his career on track. However, superwomen around the world are able to handle both family responsibilities and career responsibilities without the praise and accolades offered to superheroes. If you are a superwoman then you may be feeling overwhelmed by all of the responsibilities that you have as a mom and as a career woman. Fortunately, there are things that you can do to manage your responsibilities and minimize your stress.

Parent Tips for Being a Great Mom

One of your first responsibilities as a superwoman is to be a mother. Caring for your children is important and it should be your first priority. However, this doesn't mean that you have to be a stay-at-home mom. Many working moms are able to care for their kids, provide them with love and to offer them the support that they need to develop into a confident and competent adult.

To be a great mom all you need to do is to make sure that the time you spend with your kids is quality time. This means that while you are with your kids they are your main focus. I know this is not practical to do 24 hours a day 7 days a week, but during family activities and special events, work needs to be put on the back burner.

In addition to spending quality time with your kids you also need to show interest in their education and in their interests. This can be accomplished by talking to them about what they did in school and what they are in to. If you child expresses interest in an activity then learn a little bit about it so you can talk about it with your child.

If work is impairing your ability to be a great mom then look into your options. If you have just had a baby then look into maternity and paternity leave. These paid vacations are a great way to spend extra time with your newborn and recover from your delivery. Having dad at home during your maternity leave will also help relieve some of the pressure on you and help you all bond as a family. If you feel that you are spending too much time at work consider becoming a full time or part time stay-at-home mom. Many jobs offer flex time scheduling that will allow you to work fewer days a week or to work out your schedule so that it doesn't interfere with family activities. You can also ask if you can telecommute. If all else fails you can start your own business and work out of your home.

Parent Tips for Being a Great Career Woman

The second part of being a superwoman is being a great career woman. To be a great career woman you need to know your job inside and out and you need to be able to advance your career by staying up to date with industry trends. As a Superwoman you can be a great career woman either as a stay-at-home executive or you can be a great career woman in a business that is set up away from your home. Either way, when you are at work you need to be able to focus on work even if you are currently dealing with family life issues. Finally, to be a great career woman you need to be able to know when to ask for a break or when to ask for help. Burning yourself out is not good for you, your family or your career.

Parent Tips for Being a Great Woman

Many superwomen, whether stay-at-home moms or active career women, sometimes forget that they are women in addition to being career women and mothers. As part of being a Superwoman, you will occasionally need to plan some time to reconnect with your femininity and take care of yourself. Exercise classes, a day at the spa and learning how to relax, are all ways that you can take care of yourself and make yourself feel sexy. Taking care of this aspect of your life is just as important to being a Superwoman as spending time with the kids and being a top professional in your industry.
