How to know if you need to exfoliate:
Does your skin lack shine? Are you fighting dry skin? Does the skin around your chin and nose feel and or appear to rough?
If yes, then you need to exfoliate.
Dead skin cells block pores causing unsightly acne, blackheads, and dry patches. Removing this dead skin will reveal youthful, healthy skin. Exfoliating can also remove discoloration and leave your face more even toned. The dead layer of skin that is blocking the pores must be removed. There are several ways to exfoliate.
My great grandmother was Italian. She lived until 98. Her skin was gorgeous and lacked the typical look of aging. Her secret was the use olive oil.
Here are a few home recipes that include olive oil for a healthy, all natural exfoliating experience: The first recipe is my favorite because of its aroma. I love to mix it up and pamper myself.
Recipe One: Combine 1 tablespoon of each of the following: oatmeal, brown sugar, and granulated sugar, half a teaspoon of nutmeg and 1/4 cup of olive oil (add a few drops of almond oil) Mix until smooth.
Recipe Two: 1 Tablespoon of Oatmeal, 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoons of water and a drop of olive oil
Recipe Three: Mix 2 tablespoons of sugar with 1 tablespoon of olive oil
Steps to new skin:
Wash your face
Apply liberally to your damp face (avoiding your eyes)
Use your pointing finger to gently massage your face using tiny circular motions
Rinse your face thoroughly and pat dry
How often to exfoliate? You can exfoliate up to twice a week. Its very important not to overdo it. Treat your skin very gently. Do not scrub your skin as this will cause damage to the sensitive, healthy layer of rejuvenated skin. The one finger circular motion will keep you from applying to much pressure.
As you exfoliate regularly you can expect: Your skin to appear smoother and wrinkles to be reduced, an even skin tone (say good-bye to that slightly darker shade of skin on your chin or around your nose), blotchiness will diminish or vanish all together, scars will begin to fade and be less noticeable, make-up will look more natural and accentuate the skin. Expect your skin to look radiant and expect others to comment on your skin looking great.
