How to Have a Green St. Patrick's Day

Amanda Abella
St. Patrick's Day is already a pretty green holiday, at least in terms of color. The streets are decorated in green, people wear green from head to toe, and people ingest green colored food and beer. While the color green is most definitely prominent, St. Patrick's Day is starting to represent a different kind of green as well.

Have a Green St. Patrick's Day Tip #1: Drink locally brewed organic beer.

For some real local culture make sure to check out any local breweries that may be around your town. This not only supports local business, it also ensures that less fossil fuels are used in the transport of beer. Some breweries even allow yo to bring your own containers so as not to waste bottles.

Have a Green St. Patrick's Day Tip #2: Try organic corned beef and cabbage.

Corned beef and cabbage is a very traditional dish on St. Patrick's day. Take it a step further by finding yourself locally produced organic food.

Have a Green St. Patrick's Day Tip #3: Wear (real) green.

Sure, you are already decked out in the color green, but why not make sure you are truly green by wearing organic or recycled cotton?

Have a Green St. Patrick's Day Tip #4: Make the taxi ride home green.

After you've had a few drinks you are definitely not driving home. While taking a taxi may not be the greenest thing, you can make it a little more eco friendly by taking the shortest route or splitting a cab with friends.
