How to Make Green Tea Bath Salts!

Tea Powder and Sea Salts for Your Skin

N. Soltys
Green tea is great for your skin. It has antibacterial and antioxidant properties that make it a natural and gentle way to really clean your skin. Not only does it help clean, but teas also soothe any sore, irritated, or damaged skin. Green tea has even been noted to help prevent acne and excess oils and dirt all over your body, so soaking in a bath with products made with green tea is a wonderful way to relax. You can be clean, refreshed, and renewed in no time at all!

Making green tea bath salts:

Many at home bath salts call for glycerin, but when you make a tea bath, the purpose is to make a bath that's gentle and soothing with as many purely natural ingredients as possible. Instead, it's just as effective (and much easier!) to use a mixture of Epsom salts and sea salts. You can use equal parts, about a half cup of each. Mix them together in a small container, preferably a glass bowl, using your fingers so you can mix both types of salt together well. Now it's time to mix in two to three teaspoons of your favorite natural green tea powder.

There are many varieties of green tea powder, and I always found the scent of jasmine green tea to be the most soothing. Next, to make your salts really connect with your bath water and your skin, you want to add a few drops of oil, about three to five generous droplets. Your possibilities are almost limitless here, depending on your skin type. If you have oily skin, using an almond or coconut oil over a floral oil might be a good idea. If you have dry skin, eczema, or rashes, using ordinary extra virgin olive oil works magic! Use what soothes and relaxes you the most while taking your skin's condition into consideration.

Mixing your salts by hand is a good idea, gently using the tips of your fingers the most to spread out the drops of oil through the salt and tea combination. Continue mixing, the better the salts are blended the less they will stick to your hands! Now that you have your salts mixed, leave them to sit and settle in the glass bowl for an hour or so, gentle covered with a paper towel.

After about an hour's time, you'll have two or three relaxing bath's worth of green tea bath salts! Use them in the bath when you need your skin, body, and spirit to feel rejuvenated and renewed. To even further pamper yourself in your green tea bath, try safely lighting some tea or floral scented candles, dimming the lights, and adding some flower petals to your bathwater. You can turn your normal bath time into a therapeutic green tea spa session right at home!
