Green Tomato Crisp
Ingredients:
5-6 Cups green tomatoes, washed, cored, and diced about 1"
1+ Cup California Raisins
1½ Cups granulated white sugar (Splenda works fine)
1 Cup oatmeal (uncooked, directly from box)
½ Cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon Sea Salt (optional)
1 stick butter (real butter is better)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375. In a bowl combine sugar, oats, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt set aside. Put diced green tomatoes and California Raisins into a greased 9 x 13 pan. Sprinkle sugar, flour, oats, and spice blend over top of the tomatoes. Cut butter into 1 Tablespoon slices and place on top of the topping. Cook 45-50 mins. Allow to cool before serving. This is one recipe that honestly tastes better at room temp. Serve with a smile...
Notes:
I think this is best served with some French Vanilla ice cream. The Queen Goddess prefers the Butter Pecan. Jake my most vocal grandchild/critic only will say "More, Please"
OK the recipe is now yours. Change it if you must but make it soon. You deserve a great dessert today. Remember we only have green tomatoes for a short time of the year. Call your best pal and have the coffee pot perking for some coffee and special conversation over Green Tomato Crisp. Call your Minister or Rabi and tell 'em to bring their significate other to a dessert and coffee party. I didn't get to taste the first pan of these...y'all now how hungry Grandchildren can be. The second pan was out of this world. I am once again the King of the Kitchen. Mizpah ;-}}>
