How to Make Grilled Mangoes and Bananas

Oktober Stephens
I made this dessert as my Father's Day/ husband's birthday meal and everyone in my family loved it. I have to say that this dish reminds me of the tropics when made with the rum . It also can be made in the oven as well when the grill is unavailable. Just allow for a little extra cooking time.

Things You'll Need:

* 2 mango
* 4 bananas
* 4 ft of foil
* About 1 oz. of any tropical rum(Red Rum)
* cinnamon
* sugar

Step 1

Take your foil and fold in half and bunch up the sides so that you create a bowl on one side and a flap for the lid. Peel and cut up the banana and mango , then place in the center of the foil bowl
Step 2

Now drizzle the rum over top of the fruit. Sprinkle sugar then cinnamon on them as well. You can also try honey, or another fruit syrup over the fruit as well. Now close up the top flap and bunch together so you make pocket, but leave a little vent hole so that air can escape.

Step 3

Turn you grill or oven on to a medium heat and allow it to heat up to about 350 degrees. If you grill has a top rack, place the fruit on that one, other wise place on the lower rack away from the flame.

Step 4

Cook for about 15 minutes or in till your fruit is to your liking. What I did for extra flavor was add just a little more cinnamon after it was cooking . When serving, spoon some of the syrup from the bottom of the foil over the top of the bananas and mangoes, it add just a little more sweetness.
I also made this with maple syrup and brown sugar and it gave a whole new flavor. The syrup was darker and more rich.

I want to note that, when I use or come up with any of my recipes, I almost never put the exact amount of the ingredients of what I use. I believe that they are guide line and people should make it how they want it so it then become their own. I hope you enjoy and please let me know you come up with a different version of any of my recipes, because I would love to try them!

    I agree! Recipes should be experimented with. When I baked bread, I rarely followed the recipe exactly, and each batch of bread I made was a tasty surprise. This looks like a delicious recipe, especially with the cinnamon. Thanks!
