Take a look at this statement made by Steve Hutton, President at the Conard-Pyle Company. "In general the roses that flower the most, like floribundas and shrub roses, will do better in the shade...Anything less than six hours of sun will sacrifice some blooms. But, if you pick a rose that has prolific flowers with big blooms you will have a perfectly happy plant." See there really is hope; you can have your roses grow in the shade.
The first rose you can try out is the Meitakbaz. This type of rose has a very deep shade of yellow and never fades. The color stays true all the time. Also, it has a very pleasant and mild scent and blooms again during the summer months. The Meitalbaz looks best grown as a border of some sort; a hedge and massive landscaping.
My next recommendation is the Meipitac flower. This is also known as that Carefree Wonder. The Carefree Wonder can adapt to all weather conditions and will still grow strong. The carefree flower blooms several times a year and looks best grown near bushes. The blooms are a soft pink and white.
The Ballerina roses are ones that are most popular. These are great because they are very resistant to disease and stays in its lovely bloom till the end of fall. The fragrance is very mild. They only have five petals and bloom in white and pink. This grows as hybrid musk shrub. However, if you want you can train these rose to be a climber.
Another recommendation is that F.J. Grootendorst. This flower has some power! It is one of the toughest and most durable flowers you can get your hands on. They bloom in really big clusters. Usually the flowers bloom in a deep red and grow tiny green leaves. This is truly the classic rose look. Another great thing about this flower is that it can grow up to six feet.
