How to Guide for Men: Giving Gifts to Women

All men dread it, they don't know what to get or where to start. It is a holiday and that means time to buy a gift for the special woman in his life. Some men end up not getting a gift at all because they either forget, or they are afraid that they will get the wrong gift.

What men forget is that there is really only one thing that women want. Women want to be appreciated. of course appreciation is not something that can be wrapped up in a neat box and tied with a bow. There are many ways to show a woman how much you appreciate her. However, there are a few simple rules to follow when buying gifts for the woman in your life.

The Rules
Do not wait until the last minute! If you wait until the last minute you will be in a rush and buy whatever you see first. Of course, there are times when you will get lucky and this will work, however, this is not something that you want to get in the habit of doing. Waiting until he last minute could also cause you to run out of time and then you will have nothing to give her at all. This would not be a good thing!

Put some thought into it! If you think for a few minutes you will definitely get ideas on what to get your special lady. What does she like? What makes her smile?

Take the time to wrap the gift, and get a card. This seems silly, of course a gift is just as good if it isn't wrapped. However, giving a wrapped gift and a sentimental card will make her feel even more like a queen to you.

Gift Ideas
Flowers - This is a classic gift for someone that you care about. You can make this extra special by ordering her favorite flowers and having them delivered to her work. Everyone will be oohing and ahhing over her and her flowers for the rest of the day. I know when my husband comes home on a normal day, not a holiday, with a bundle of fresh flowers for me I feel like I am on top of the world! You can go to a specialty florist shop to get flowers. You can also contact many national chains by phone or on-line. You can even find floral departments in any grocery store. If you pick out flowers that are already bundled together and wrapped in plastic, take them to the florist and have her wrap them in paper and tie a ribbon around them. This is a free service when you purchase the flowers, and it is definitely worth the extra few minutes!

Candy - This is another classic gift. Boxes of gourmet chocolates or chocolate covered fruits are such a wonderful indulgence. You can find these in specialty candy shops, and during certain holidays you can also find them in your grocery store. My husband has brought me home candies many times, and he knows that it always brings a big smile to my face!

Bath Goodies - This is a good gift for some women, and a not so good gift for others. Some women have an abundance of bath goodies. Lotions, bath salts, and soaps can be a simple gift for anyone to give a woman, so it can be over done. Make sure that the lady in your life does not have a cabinet full of these items before you go and purchase them. If she does not have many, then this is a great gift. My husband knows that one of my favorite past times is a nice long luxurious bath. So when he gave me a very nice box of bath stuff for my birthday I was thrilled!

Jewelry - This can be a very pricey gift, but there are ways to indulge in jewelry without breaking the bank. If you are able to afford it, then definitely splurge on a nice piece of jewelry for her. After all "Diamonds are a girls best friend!" However, you can also get sterling silver pieces fairly inexpensively. You can also hunt on Ebay for beautiful jewelry at discounted prices. I know that one of my favorite searches on Ebay is for antique necklaces. They are so beautiful and do not cost you an arm and a leg.

Pamper Her - Every woman likes to be pampered from time to time. Some great pampering gifts are manicure/pedicure gift certificates, massage products, or a massage gift certificate.

Personalize It - A great way to show her that you put a lot of thought into your gift is to get her something that is personalized. This can be jewelry, a robe, a towel, a bag, or any other item you can think of! This is an amazing way to show her that you love her. When you personalize the gift, think of a way to make it even more special than just her name. You could put a special phrase that only you have said to her. Gift Certificates - Some people think that gift certificates are impersonal. I disagree. You have to think about which store to go to and whether or not they will like that store or not. If you know that she likes a particular store, then get her a gift certificate to that store. She will love being able to go and pick out exactly what she wants! Offer to go with her while she shops. This way you can see exactly how much she enjoys using your gift.

No matter what the gift, if you follow the rules, the special woman in your life is sure to smile when you give her a gift.
