How Guided Meditation Makes Meditating More Fun

Jessica
Guided meditation means meditating with an aide (usually that aide is an audio recording) that will help you to relax your body and yourself. This is a great way for beginners or unenthusiastic meditators to get into the act. It makes meditation a lot easier and much less boring.

The best way to go about guided meditation is to record your own tape or CD. It's relatively cheap and extremely personalized. You can target any goal you want by recording your own meditation audios, and truly personalize your experience. However, when you're first starting out, it's recommended that you start with a general and relaxing audio thats sole purpose is to clear your mind and fill you with positive energy.

Write yourself an outline you can reference before you start recording. Let the words come to you naturally and record them with a clear, soothing voice. Don't worry if you record a lot of pauses. It might sound awkward to you at first, but it's a good way to let your mind take a break. Some people like to record soothing music or binaural beats in the background.

After you record your audio, burn it onto a CD or transfer it into your mp3 player. Use this recording the next time you're ready to meditate. Play it at a comfortable volume that won't interfere with your relaxed stage.

If you'll feel uncomfortable at your first attempt, you can open your eyes and change your position if you think it is necessary. Remind yourself that meditation is it's own reward, and that you don't need to hold yourself to any expectations.

Remember to breathe from your diaphragm, which further relaxes your body, as well as improves your health. Close your eyes and just look at the darkness and images you see in your mind's eye. Imagine each interfering thought that you have as a tiny ball. Now imagine yourself flinging that ball out of your mind.

Release all your thoughts and just listen to your recording. Don't expect anything special to happen, just relax and let those special moments come to you when they're ready. If at any point you feel you should stop your CD, feel free to do so. Your instinct will let you know what is best for you.

Hopefully, you'll notice that guided meditations are easier for you to get through. If you find that you're compatible with these meditation aides, go ahead and make yourself more recordings when you feel you have enough experience.

Future guided meditation recordings should focus on simple goals. Some ideas are: improving self esteem, getting in touch with my higher self, using my third eye, etc. Switch between specific goal recordings and the general recording whenever you see fit.

Enjoy the peace and happiness that surround you, which will become more powerful with each time you repeat this practice.
