Start with a cheap, store-bought Christmas wreath in any color. Tinsel or faux greenery wreaths work equally well, depending on your desired result. Stick will natural greenery for a country music guitar wreath or go for shiny pink tinsel for the punk rocker in your life.
Collect an assortment of colored guitar pics for the craft. Pics are available at every music store and even some broader stores like Wal-Mart nation wide. Pics can be purchased in any color for themed wreaths or stick with red guitar pics to look like holly berries against a green Christmas wreath. You can also order guitar pics with the names of your recipient's favorite band or artists or their favorite guitar maker, like Fender.
Next, purchase a set of discount guitar strings. Strings are sold six to a pack, ranging from a wire-thin E string to the heavier top strings. Each string will have a circular fastener on one end to fasten it to the guitar. But the other ends will all me long. Hold the string in the center and form a large bow. Leave the long ends hanging down. Arrange the guitar string bow at the top of the Christmas wreath and allow the ends to hang to the bottom part of the circular wreath. If necessary, trim the free ends but leave the ends with the distinctive fasteners. Glue the bow in place.
Add extra music and guitar decorations to the Christmas wreath craft. Look for miniature decorations like cassette tapes, music instruments, or CDs at craft and hobby stores.
Print out copies of guitar tab for your gift recipient's favorite songs. Use decorative scissors with scalloped edges to cut around a few bars of the guitar tab. Glue the cut-outs in a few places around the wreath.
Go even further with the musical theme by recording short sections of a Christmas rock song on a small craft voice recorder. Attach the voice recorder behind a large guitar pic or fabric bow to hide it from view. Arrage the pic or bow so the recorder begins playing when you press the decoration.
Attach a length of picture frame wire to the back of the wreath for easy hanging. Spray a little faux snow around the tips of the wreath's needles for the finishing crafty touch.
