How to Get Gum Out of Hair

TommiH
We all know that almost every child out there will take a piece of gum without any problem. Most anyone will take a piece of gum without a problem because it is a good thing right? Well, just remember that every good thing has something bad to it.

The most common problem with chewing gum is when it gets on something it is not suppose to be on, such as your hair. Once gum gets in your hair, it is the world's biggest pain to get out. You can try combing it out. It will not work. You can try to wash it out. It will not work. But I do have a way that works and boy does it work well. This technique has been tested in my family many times.

Make sure that the gum is not going to get anywhere else, like on clothes or spread more throughout the hair area. Gather up a couple towels and have them ready because you are going to have to wash the hair after you complete all the steps. It is also best to have a sink handy because a sink is easier to wash the stuff out of your hair rather than a shower. You can pay more attention to what you are doing.

Now let's get that gum out of the hair.

Step 1- Apply an ice cube to the hair to freeze it and stop it from spreading while you get everything ready. You will need a towel, sink, shampoo, conditioner, Dawn © dish soap, and a jar of peanut butter. Yes, that is right, peanut butter.

Step 2 - Remove the ice cube from the gummy hair and scoop out a chunk of peanut butter. It is best to use creamy peanut butter rather than chunky peanut butter because you do not want to have to deal with peanut butter chunks in your hair. I know, you are probably laughing hysterically right now. It is not everyday when someone tells you to use creamy peanut butter in your hair rather than chunky.

Step 3 - Massage a glob of peanut butter onto the gum area. Continue to rub the peanut butter thru your hair and all over the gum for a couple minutes. This should get it loose. Now you can use a fine comb to comb thru the gum section. Continue combing and apply peanut butter until all the gum has been removed.

Step 4- After the gum has been removed, use Dawn © dish soap to wash your hair with. This will help get rid of the peanut butter's greasiness. After you have washed your hair with Dawn ©, wash your hair with whatever shampoo and conditioner you use.

Now that the gum is out of your hair, try not to do it again. Let's just leave that as the final step.

And that is how you get gum out of your hair!
