1. Cut
Time to trim away those dry winter ends, or even go for a new style completely. To some, the most fun in the sun can be had with a radical change of hairdo.
2. Color
If you are tired of your hair color, or just want to brighten up for when the sun comes back again, now is the time to do it. After getting a fabulous new cut, research the different shades that would look best with your skin-tone (read How to Get Your Skin Ready for Summer in the "Additional Reading" at the bottom of this article for tips on perfecting that before hitting the beach) and fashion style.
3. Condition
After winter is over, our hair can be as dull and lifeless as our skin from the dry and cold attacking it for months. Sometimes, all it needs is a great deep conditioning treatment. Use you favorite or check out the "Additional Reading" section for some great at home recipes.
4. Change
Sometimes the winter months mean that we need heavier conditioners. After giving yourself a deep treatment, it may be time to look into switching your shampoo and conditioner out to a set that is less harsh and lighter. This is due to the fact of having to wash your hair more in the summer due to it being oilier from the sun and sweating as well as the residual from swimming and other sports. You do not have to change from a favorite brand, just look into another product in their line that fits better for washing your hair more frequently.
5. Protect
Find light weight conditioning sprays that, not only keep the frizz away but also protect your hair from damage. Look for ones that have a sunblock in them. One of the most important parts about getting your hair ready for summer is to plan on how to keep it healthy all season long.
