How to Make a Halloween Costume on a Budget

There are so many old clothing and makeup we can use to make our own costume from home instead of spending money yet another year, on new costumes. So many people buy masks when they can easily use a bit of makeup and some old or current clothing in their closet to help the character come alive. Especially where young children are concerned; they grow so quickly that sometimes it's better to not invest or spend much money on costumes. More so, it's a great way to achieve an original look when attending the annual Halloween party at the office. Here are some tips on how to make a Halloween costume from home or on a budget.

First determine or decide on the kind of character you want to be.

Then go to the coat or clothes closet to determine whether you have the pieces of clothing needed to create the look. If not your closet then someone else's closet is a great idea (as long as you've got their permission).

Shoes are always an important part of a look; therefore you want to definitely check out the shoe rack (closet) to determine what goes well with your look.

Makeup is sometimes essential to certain looks. It's a great way of making your character come to life.

Depending on the kind of character you have decided on, one can use the tools or crafts that are present around the house to design it. For example: if you or your child has decided to be an animal or a robot for Halloween. In reference to the construction of any animal, one can easily use construction paper to create the mask and paint or markers to outline the features on the face. Makeup can also be just as effective in the construction of the face. Additionally, if one were to create a robot, one can easily use tools from the kitchen or the garage, like old boxes or aluminum foil to create the look you want.

If you don't have any of these materials, the thrift or dollar stores are great places to find what you need at reasonable prices.

Overall, it's a lot of fun because it brings out your creativity and it's also a great way for you and the family to spend quality time together. You might be amazed at how much you can do with just a little. Let your creativity come alive this Halloween. Give it a try! The level of creativity might just scare you... Moo ha ha ha ha haaa!!! Have a happy and safe Halloween.
