How to Make Halloween Luminary Out of a Milk Jug

Make Free Spooky Ghost Luminaries to Light Up Your Driveway on Halloween

Colleen Starr
You can create free Halloween decorations using supplies you probably have around the house.

This year in our house we made spooky ghost luminaries out of recycled milk jugs. The whole craft cost us nothing since we had all the supplies needed. This is a fun Halloween craft to make with your kids.

Steps to create Halloween luminary out of a milk jug

Step 1: Throughly rinse out a milk jug. Be sure to save the top.

Step 2: After milk jugs have dried, draw a ghost face on jug with a black Sharpie marker.

Step 3: Cut a 1 inch round hole in back of milk jug. (For safety reasons, be sure an adult cuts the hole.)

Step 4: Using a strand of white Christmas lights stuff 4-5 lights in the hole of your ghost milk jug. You could use a tealight candle if you prefer. If using a candle, be sure to cut a a hole in the top of the milk jug to vent.

Materials needed:
Empty milk jugs
Black permeant markers, like a Sharpie
Xacto or utility knife
Strand of miniature white Christmas lights

I hope you have as much fun making your Halloween luminaries as our family did.
