Materials:
-1 sheet of felt for the pumpkin - your choice of color
( I chose a dark gold and stained it with coffee for a antique look)
-Scraps of felt for eyes, nose, mouth and bow
( Black, brown, dark green and maroon or dark red)
-3 inch piece of branch for the pumpkin stem
-12 inch piece of 20 gauge wire for hanger
-Embroidery thread
( I chose brown for around the pumpkin and gold for around the eyes, nose and mouth)
-Small amount of poly-fil
Supplies:
Scissors or pinking sheers
Large sewing needle or fabric glue
Pencil
To start cut (2) - 4" x 6" pumpkin shapes out of the sheet of felt.
Cut (2) - quarter size eyeballs, and 2- dime size pupils from different colors
of the scrap felt. Cut about a inch triangle for the nose, a ½" x 3" rectangle
for the mouth and a 1" x 5" rectangle for the bow.
Next sew an X on each of the pupils. Then sew or glue the pupils
to the upper left side of the eyeballs.
On one of the pumpkin shapes sew the eyeballs in place. I chose to use the
blanket- stitch, but, may use what ever stitch you prefer. I also used two strands of the embroidery thread, when sewing. Then sew the nose and the mouth in place.
Sew together the 2 pumpkin shapes, leaving an inch opening at the top. Put the desired amount of poly-fil into the pumpkin, insert about 1" of the branch and sew or glue shut.
Take the rectangle for the bow and tie it on the stem. As close to the pumpkin as you can get it.
To finish, take the wire and insert each end about 3" apart on the top sewn part of the pumpkin. Bend middle part to become a hanger, leaving about 2" of wire on each end.
Take wire and twist it around the hanger end one or two times. Take a pencil and curl the ends of the wire, to make curly. Your pumpkin is now complete. The cost of these pumpkins is next to nothing. So, why stop at only one?
