Instructions to Make Hand Painted Gardening Gloves
If the gloves are washable, wash them in warm water and mild soap. Let them thoroughly dry. Begin by using the colored pencils to draw a design on the topside of the gloves. You may want to start by putting vines along the fingers, drawing in a few different colored flowers along the way up to the topside of the hand area of the glove. There you can put a bouquet or floral ring of different colored flowers. Birdhouses also look nice in this area. You may want to use tracing paper to transfer a design to the gloves or use a favorite stencil. Gardening books and the Internet are good sources for finding pictures of plants and flowers.
After you have drawn the outline of the design on the gloves, assemble the paints you are going to use. I like to put small amounts of different colored paints on a paper plate, so that I can easily change from one color to another. Trace along all lines and fill in areas until the design on the gloves are completely covered with paint. Be sure to use the right sized paintbrush for the design. You do not want to use a large paintbrush on a small flower. Let the paint dry overnight.
To add pizzazz to the flowers, sew a cluster of seed beads to the flower centers. You can also put a few individual beads in different parts of the painted area.
Your gloves are now ready to be wrapped and given to that special gardening family member or friend.
