How to Be Happier

The year is coming to an end. This is the time to make New Year Resolutions. Those making resolutions are hoping if they fulfill them that they will be happier. The pursuit of happiness is something many are after. But, what are some ways to be happier in your life?

It is important to avoid the happiness robbers. There are many happiness robbers which you may not realize are stealing your happiness. Complaining is something most people are guilty of doing a lot on a daily basis. The problem with complaining is what you feed grows. If you always focus on what is bothering you it is going to lower your happiness. Blaming is happiness robber too. If something goes wrong continually blaming someone will not make you feel better. Blaming can be endless. It does not help to find a real solution to the issue. Likewise, shame can steal your happiness. We are all human and we all make mistakes beating yourself up about your wrong decisions and feeling self-pity will just lead you to spiral into depression.It is essential to learn from your mistakes and to move on with your life. Time can be a big happiness robber. Good time management in daily life is significant. You need to be able to control time. It will can make your life more difficult if time is controlling you.

It is important to manage the basic needs in your life. If you take care of the main needs in your life you will feel happier. It can help you to feel better if you get enough sleep on a daily basis. The average person needs seven to eight hours of sleep each night. If you get too little or too much sleep it can affect your mood. Not getting the correct amount of sleep can affect your mood. It can cause you to feel grumpy, drowsy, or moody. Equally important, eating enough is essential. You need to eat three meals every single day. Today's fast pace world it is easy to skip a meal. But, not eating enough or eating too much can lead to health problems. If you eat good healthy food you will have more energy that will help you feel happier and give you more energy. This will make it somewhat easier to accomplish your goals for the day.

It is easy to get lazy with things like Drive-Thrus, and so many jobs that utilize less physical activity. But, exercising on a weekly basis three or four days a week is essential. It will help you have a healthier and leaner body. It is good to exercise because it causes your body to release positive endorphins which will make you feel happier. Additionally, making decisions can be tough in life. Its wiser to be maximizer. Maximizers want to make the best possible decision. It can take maximizers hours or days to make a decision. On the other hand, satisficers make a decision once their basic criteria is met. Satisficers are generally happier.

It is important to practice gratitude. If you are not appreciative of what you have no matter how much you obtain you will never be truly happy because there will always be an urge for more. That is why the old cliché
grass is greener on the other side is so popular. Before, you worry about what you do not have appreciate what you do have. A good exercise to try is to get a piece of paper and to write down all the things in your life you appreciate. You may have more good things in your life then you realize. It is easy in life to look at all the things we do not have not and our problems.

It is possible to be happy in life. Sometimes it just takes the basic needs in life to be fulfilled regardless of how complicated the world is becoming. "Happiness is a choice that requires effort at times" said Aeschylus (www.goodreads.com). If you want to be happy or miserable it is a decision. We all have the power to create our reality.
