How to Be Happy All the Time

Mercy4
How to be happy all of the time. Seems like an impossible statement or goal doesn't it? In the world we live in full of problems and situations we have to deal with on a regular basis, family, career demands, people who have been impossible to deal with. Not to mention gas prices, grocery costs, budgeting, planning for retirement, problems in our society, the war, the elections. Whew! Not an exhaustive list but definately exhausting.

Did you know that happiness is a choice? We make choices everyday, what time we will get out of bed in the morning, how hot we turn the water for a shower, what to wear, what to eat, what we think about. What do you think about? Do you spend most of your time mulling over any of the situations mentioned earlier? Dear reader, I can tell you if you do that with most of your sixteen waking hours you probably are not a happy person. But you can choose what you think about. You can choose to be positive. You can choose to be thankful to your Creator that you do have a family to come home to, you have a career, you have people to talk with, you live in a country that is full of freedoms we enjoy everyday. I know that if you made a list of all of the things that truely bring happiness in your life and choose to think on these things you will find you will have a spring in your step and a smile on your face. You will affect the people you come in contact with. It is all about your thoughts.

In any given 60 seconds you can have just as many thoughts going on in the incredibly magnificient brain God has given you! So choose to start the day when you roll out of bed with a positive thought. I like to think about the verse in the Bible that says in Philipians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Or another that says in Psalm 118:24 This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it! I am so thankful that I woke up this morning. That I have breath in my lungs, that I can think and talk. That I can walk! I am thankful that I have indoor plumbing and an invigorating hot shower to help me wake up. I am thankful to God for the little Pomeranian that I have as a pet that is so happy to see me in the morning or when I come home. I am thankful for electricity, a phone to communicate with, as well as the internet to get & receive information. I am thrilled when I think about a family that loves me for being me, and for friends to enjoy. And most of all that God loves me. Do you get the point yet? Our happiness does not depend on our circumstances. We can choose to think about problems and it does affect our happiness, or choose to talk to God about them & give those situtations to Him. He can handle them you know, He is bigger than you and loves you so much He sent His Son Jesus, just for you. Call upon Him today, He is as close as your next breathe, you will find and truely be happy in Him.

Our happiness is in what we choose to think about. What are you thinking about?
