First you have to make sure your computer has a dvi or vga connection. Almost every desktop computer and laptop computer has one or the other. It is usually in the back of a desktop or laptop. Make sure your TV has a HDMI or DVI input either in the back or on the side of the TV is most common. This is where you will place the cable from the computer. When choosing a cable there are a lot of choices. There are HDMI to DVI cables , DVI to VGA cables and HDMI to HDMI. If your computer is new it may have an HDMI output. No matter which cable you need to use it will work fine.
Turn on your computer and make sure your TV's proper input source is selected. Sometimes you will have to adjust the display settings to the resolution that matches your tv. You can do this in your control panel on a PC or under settings on a Mac. This is a really great way to save money or space if you need to. It can allow you to use the same LCD TV or Plasma TV for both viewing needs. It can also make it easier to afford a bigger and better TV if you only have to buy one. Good luck and enjoy the big screen!
