How to Get Healthier Gums

You Can Achieve Great Results Even Without Fancy Toothpastes and Rinses

Many of us think we have to brush our teeth with fancy toothpastes. Trying to find the perfect toothpaste has requires a bit of research these days. You can choose from toothpastes with or without fluoride, tartar control, teeth whiteners, paste for sensitive teeth, any combination of all of these and countless other toothpastes. But, did you know that you can use less toothpaste and still main excellent tooth and gum health?

What is right? What is best? How about the best brand? Is a gel better than a paste? Do you like baking soda?

Most toothpastes will do the job and very well. However, you can readily use less of the gimmicky toothpastes and maintain a healthy, clean mouth and teeth.

Step 1 '" Floss thoroughly using a coated floss.

Step 2 '" Brush with up/down strokes each morning, before bedtime and as needed during the day. Effectively brush for two minutes with a medium stiff bristle toothbrush using only regular tap water, and remove all food particles as you brush.

Step 3 '" Rinse your mouth and toothbrush.

Step 4 '" Add a small amount of regular paste to toothbrush and go over teeth starting in the front and working to both sides, top and bottom. One minute of brushing with the paste is adequate. Using regular cavity fighting paste at this stage is effective in adding fluoride and breath fresheners.

Step 5 '" Lightly rinse.

Merely brushing with water for two minutes and following up with a cavity fighter paste is every bit as efficient for removing food, bacteria and even plaque and keeping gums healthy than by using tartar-fighting and other types of toothpaste. Brushing your teeth in this simple manner is effective '" in fact, you are able to reduce buildup of tartar, bacteria and cavities, prohibit gum bleeding and develop a clean, healthier gums by following the floss/water/regular cavity paste brushing routine twice daily.
