How Do I Help My Elementary School Child Learn
Through Time, Patience and Consistency You Will Help Your Child Learn
Many teachers I have come across feel the same way but they have teach how the school system wants them to teach. Which is classic text book teaching but there are a few teachers that throw that out the window when students aren't learning. Teacher figure out what students learn from classic text book teaching and which don't. For the students who don't learn they make a different lesson plan. Teachers make students want to learn by secrets they learn along the way. As parents we aren't in the classroom setting to see how the teacher teaches. With that being said parents need a way to help with homework when their child don't understand something. Listed below you will find ways to help your elementary school child learn.
Through time, patience and consistency you will help your child learn. Children need to understand that when they can't figure something out it's not that they can't do it. It's just they don't understand it in the way it's being taught. Here are a couple examples to help your elementary school child learn.
How Do I Help My Elementary School Child Learn
1- Offer your extra time in the classroom. Participate in your child's classroom by helping out as a room mother. This enables you to learn how the teacher teaches the children. Listen carefully to how and what the teacher is teaching. It will help you better understand your part at home.
2- Use what you learned in the classroom. Once you understand the subject or subjects your child is having difficulty in you will be able to help. Remember how the teacher was teaching and if what she was doing worked, use the same technique at home. If the technique didn't work you need to make you own plan for helping your elementary school child learn.
3- Use techniques your teacher used to help your child learn. Think back to when you were in school. Did your teacher have a certain way to help students learn? If so, try the technique out you might be surprised.
4- Make learning fun for your child. Setup a chalkboard and have your child write spelling words on it instead of on paper. The chalkboard may be used as a tool to help children learn math. Write a few problems the child is having difficulty with on the chalkboard. Ask your child to figure the problem out. If they can't figure it out use a technique you remember that helped you. If the problem is fractions use money, candy or a pie to explain fractions. This does work and it does help. My children learned quickly with this technique.
5- For history and science you can reenact situations or take your child to a live lesson. Visit surrendering grounds that show what is was like during the civil war. When children see things first hand they will remember it more quickly than reading. Visit a science museum and let your child explore the exhibits. Seeing the exhibits and how they work will help your child remember it more quickly.
Through all the techniques mentioned your elementary school child will learn in a way that enables them to learn at their pace.
