How to Get Help Studying for Your Social Work Licensing Exam

Many professions have licensing exams; social work is no exception. The exam is the final step in being a licensed social worker. By knowing what is on the exam, practicing sample questions and being self-confident, a student can make higher scores on licensing exams. Study guides help a student meet all of these objectives.
.Social Work Examination Services

A study guide for the Social Work Board Licensing Exam can be bought at Social Work Examination Services (SWES; see References). The SWES staff also offer study sessions in different parts of the country. Its website lists where these two-day seminars take place.
.Social Work Guide

Study guides for the Social Work Licensing Exam can be found at Social Work Guide (see References). There is a fee for purchasing the guide. The site sells four different practice tests: 1) A Study Guide for the Bachelors Exam; 2) Study Guide for ASWB Masters Exam; 3) Study Guide for the ASWB Clinical/Advanced Generalist Exam; and 4) A Strategic Guide for Mastering Multiple Choice Questions.
.Association of Social Work Boards

A practice study guide containing sample questions for the Social Work Licensing test can be found ASWB.org (see Refernces). There is a fee for the practice test. If taking the test before January 1, 2011, you can purchase the practice test from the website. If the test is being taken after January 1, 2011, email info@aswb.org concerning a sample test. The test is being revised after January 1, 2010.
