This great resource is the Help and Support Center. The HSC is made up of a lot of information that can be used to find out anything you need to know about your computer and how it works. It can be found by going to Start, and then clicking on it on the menu that pops up. In this article I am going to tell you 5 ways to get the best help and support using your Windows XP's Help and Support Center.
- Use the Index
The index is a great place to go to if you have found nothing while looking in all the other places. If you know what you're looking for and you cannot find it anywhere else, or if you're just in a hurry and you want a quick answer this is the place to go. In the index you will get a list of all of the keywords and basically everything that's in the HSC; all you have to do is double click on a keyword or phrase and you'll get a complete definition or description of it.
- Search box
This is an awesome feature that they implemented into the HSC. It's at the top of the page always and it allows you to enter anything that you're looking for, it will then bring up whatever you asked for and some related topics. The search box should be used every time if you're not finding anything from the front page.
- Home page
The home page of the HSC is filled with awesome information. Most times you will find what you're looking for from a link that will be found here. You should go through every link that's found here at least once when you first buy your computer in order to know basic Windows information.
- Support button
The support button will allow you to ask someone else for support; such as a friend or a co-worker or even just someone that you might have met online. In the support page you will find a link that will explain to you how to get remote assistance; that's how your friends, family, co-workers, or others will be able to help you, they will connect via the internet to your computer.
- Windows XP newsgroups
If you ever find that you cannot get any information on a certain topic at the HSC, then clicking on Windows XP Newsgroups will definitely help you out. This will connect you to some forums online. It will also take you to a page where you can ask a support professional questions by email or in an online chat session.
