How to Help Those Affected by the Southern California Wildfires

There are many of us in the position to help those that have lost everything in the fires that are destroying homes and businesses across Southern California. As evacuations increase, so does the need for people to give what they can to those who are losing so much. You can help those in need with any of these organizations, and encourage your friends and relatives to do the same.

The American Red Cross is the most well-known and respected organization to donate money to. Your monetary donation to them can help them obtain food, clothes, temporary shelter, medical needs, and services for families dislocated by the fires. Their disaster relief fund has helped millions all over the world already.

San Diego Humane Society and SPCA is in great need of volunteers to help with their rescue efforts and evacuation of pets. If you cannot take in an abandoned or stray animal, the shelter will greatly appreciate your donation of cash, dog and cat food, blankets, and pet medicine.

The San Diego Zoo was affected by the wildfires and lost some important materials. You can help continue their efforts to provide a safer and less fire-prone landscape to house their animals in by giving a tax-deductible donation today.

Volunteer Match of San Diego can easily and quickly match you up with whatever volunteering opportunities that are available. You can also search the website www.californiavolunteers.org for ways to volunteer your services.

The San Diego Foundation provides a relief fund for those affected by this tragic event with food, shelter, housing, and healthcare to the victims.

The San Diego Salvation Army support the firefighters who are fighting tirelessly against this terrible blaze. They have mobile feeding units delivering water and food to the firefighters and police that are risking their lives to put out the fires. You can donate on line through their website or call 1-866-I'll -HELP.

To give non-cash donations such as food, blankets, clothes, etc., you can call 1-800-750-2858 to learn where you can send or drop off your donations.
