Diet and exercise are the two important components involved in speeding up the metabolism and thus weight reduction. Diet must be designed in such a way that there is desired decrease in weight at the same time. The nutrition, vitamin and mineral status, and hydration are not compromised and are available in appropriate quantity and quality to the body. The basic principle involved in reducing the body weight is, there should be more calories burnt and less calories eaten. Green leafy vegetables, fruits sprouted pulses are all consumed in adequate quantities to get the supply of vitamins, minerals, etc.
Exercise regiments can be followed according to your convenience, choice and requirement. Exercise not only reduces overweight, it also keeps the body fit and trim. This concept of body sculpture is becoming popular all over the world.
Diet together with exercise form the main weight reducing strategy. In reducing the overweight apart from the individual with the right attitude, motivation and will to reduce weight, a diet expert, a fitness expert, a doctor (if needed) all play an important role. When expert consultation is needed nobody should hesitate to take it.
Once a proper weight reducing strategy has been adopted and followed one must keep a check on the rate of weight reduced. Regular weight measurements help. Pregnant women, childhood obesity are all to be treated as special cases. The tendency to put on weight increases during pregnancy, as there is nutritious diet, unnecessary rest. The pregnant women must be cautious.
Childhood obesity is another important special case. Familial history, overfeeding, lazy nature, psychological trauma compensated with food, can all lead to childhood obesity; can create physical and mental problems to a child. An ideal weight must be achieved with proper diet and physical activity not with starving the child.
