How to Get Hired at Chuck E. Cheese

penguins29
I applied to Chuck E Cheese, looking for a part time job and for something fun to do in my spare time. I enjoy working with kids, and I figured that Chuck E Cheese would be a great way to work with kids while having fun at the same time.

I filled out an online application for employment, and after about 2 days, I didn't receive a response from anyone. So I decided to call the store and ask about my application status. It took about 10 minutes for the person to find it online, and then she scheduled me for an interview 2 days later. When I met with the interviewing manager, she was very nice. She asked a few questions about me, and then she offered me the job. I guess it doesn't take much for one to be hired at Chuck E Cheese. Most of the questions were what hours and days I could work and when I could start, and only one or two questions about my education and work experience. When I found out that Chuck E Cheese employees start out at minimum wage, I wasn't at all surprised, but a little disappointed. I figured I would get a little more, especially with 7 years of experience with children and a college degree.

After the interview, she explained that a background check needed to be done before I was hired. It took about 24 hours for it to come back, and once it did, the manager called me back and set me up for orientation that same weekend. For the orientation, I came in for about 2 hours, read through and signed all of the paperwork needed for new hires, and then I watched a video. There is a lot of paper work to read, including the Employee Handbook. Once the orientation was complete, she put me on the schedule for that week and told me the dress code so I could go out and buy what I needed for my first day on the job. Plain red polo, navy blue pants and white tennis shoes - easy enough.

Overall, the interview and orientation part was very easy. I had my interview on a Thursday, orientation on Sunday, and my first day was Tuesday. It's a fast process if you are need of a job quickly, but the pay is not that great if that's what you are looking for. I cannot believe you asked if they take a DRUG TEST. You should not be working around kids if you are on drugs. Are you crazy? I hope to god you didnt end up working there.
