How to Have a Hollywood Crib on a Suburban Budget

Have you ever watched MTV's cribs and sat there asking yourself why you can't have the things the celebrity of the moment seems to be taunting you with? If you have you're not alone. Yes it is disgusting that some people with little or no talent live in luxury with homes large enough for 20 people and enough cars to open their own dealership, but don't worry, you can have the same look without starring in a Hollywood blockbuster or having a platinum album.

First, have you ever noticed how less is more in extremely expensive homes. Everything is spread out and given its own space. This allows special pieces to have attention and automatically draw the eye to that location. To accomplish this look, buy one nice decorative piece. Instead of picking up five cheap items, pull your money and invest in one classic piece such as a vase. Even if you're not a flower lover, a vase can be used on a pedestal or in a corner on a simple table. No one will know how much you paid unless you tell them. Remember, keep it simple. Don't over accessorize. You wouldn't wear three necklaces, two pair of earring, a large belt, two bracelets, a hat, and matching purse with the same outfit would you? The same principle applies here.

When it comes to the kitchen, thousands of dollars can be spent on appliances, china, marble countertops, and anything else you can think of. Unfortunately, we all don't have the luxury of a never ending bank account. The rule of simplicity can also be used in this room. By choosing one or two main colors you will create a clean pallet that can be built upon later. If your refrigerator is black then try to get a black stove and dishwasher. This creates unison and also makes the eye gaze over imperfections that may be apparent if the appliance was bright color or a different color. Remember this rule when buying smaller appliances as well. All appliances should match to create a rich, clean look. Furthermore, if appliances are left out on the countertops they also blend in if they are one color.

Finally, lets move to the bedroom. The bedroom is your space and should be used to reflect your own interests and tastes. Try to incorporate the one or two color pallet into this room as well. Dark colors make for a cozy feel while bright colors reflect a light and airy feeling. If you want to spend some extra money, then invest in a down comforter. They look great and are comfortable without being too heavy. As you can see you can live in luxury without breaking the bank, it just takes some creativity.
