The first thing that you can do is to cover up your outlets. Small children can get shocked by playing with the outlets if you are not careful. The covers don't even cost a dollar a piece and should be used on all outlets that are open in your entire home. It's a minimal expense to ensure safety.
Look at the corners on objects that your baby might reach. The most common injury is the coffee table. It the corners are too sharp, be sure to cover them up and make the corners safer. You could also get rid of things that your baby might get hurt on.
Stair blocks are a great safety item to have. These are gates that you put in the stairway so that your baby can't fall down the stairs.
The cabinets in your home might contain chemicals and items that you don't want your baby getting into. For this reason, you need to install cabinet blocks. These are small plastic items added to each cabinet so that they are harder to open ensuring more safety.
The blinds can be dangerous to children. The problem are the cords that hang down to the floor. Some children have died from getting their necks tangled with these. Be sure that you keep these cords up high so that your child can't reach them.
