How to Make Homemade Christmas Dough Ornaments: Applesauce and Cinnamon Ornaments

Michelle M. Guilbeau
One of my favorite crafts to make at the holidays is cinnamon and applesauce ornaments. Cinnamon and applesauce ornaments are really easy to make, they look festive and the best part of these holiday ornaments is they smell amazingly delicious and give off a wonderful aroma wherever the dough ornaments are hung.

I have made the applesauce and cinnamon ornaments for a variety of purposes, one of my greatest successes with these Christmas dough ornaments has been to sell the festive ornaments at craft shows. They have always sold well at craft shows and people seem to love them.

I also really love making the festive ornaments for myself and giving them as gifts, my family and friends look forward to receiving my applesauce and cinnamon ornaments as gifts every year. Make sure when giving the applesauce and cinnamon ornaments away as gifts or selling them at craft shows that disclaimer is also given that the dough is not edible!

Here you will find the recipe for the best homemade Christmas dough ornaments ever, the applesauce and cinnamon ornaments.

INGREDIENTS:

1/3 cup white glue
1 cup applesauce
1 ½ cups ground cinnamon
Small bowl of ground cinnamon
Flour
Cookie cutter shapes
Rolling pin
Pencil
Baking pan
Ribbon

DIRECTIONS:

Mix together the glue, 1 ½ cups ground cinnamon and 1 cup applesauce. Place the dough in the refrigerator for approximately 45 minutes or until dough is fairly cool to the touch.

Sprinkle the small bowl of ground cinnamon on to the work surface and using the rolling pin, roll the dough out until it is approximately 1/3 inch thick.

Next, dip the cookie cutter shapes into the flour and cut out shapes from the dough.

Using the eraser end of the pencil, make a hole in the top of each dough shape. Place dough shapes on to the baking pan and cook in oven at 150' F for approximately 6 ½ hours.

Allow the applesauce and cinnamon ornaments to cool and place ribbon through each ornament hole so the ornaments can be hung or weave ribbon through the holes of multiple ornaments and a beautiful garland will be produced.

Not only do these homemade Christmas dough ornaments look great but the applesauce and cinnamon combination make the home smell wonderful while baking.
