Directions for Making the Christmas Tree Dough Ornaments

You can craft the ornaments by hand, with cookie cutters, and molds. You can find some of the craft molds on the soap making aisle of many craft stores.

Follow the directions for each of the dough recipes. Roll out the doughs into a flat sheet if you are going to use Christmas cookie cutters. If you chose not to add the food coloring, tempura paint or food coloring paste into the mixture, bake the ornaments before painting and decorating them. Be sure to put a hole in the tops of the ornaments before you bake them. By doing this now, you won't have to worry about doing it when they are baked. If you wait until then, chances are you will break your Christmas tree ornaments.

Once the Christmas dough ornaments are baked and cooled, you and your family can paint them as you see fit. Be sure to let the paint dry before adding any other types of trims and embellishments to your Christmas tree ornaments. You can add any other embellishments such as beads and ribbons by gluing them on.

Once you have your Christmas tree dough ornaments painted and trimmed, thread some ribbon long enough to make a hanger for the tree through the hole and tie it in a bow or knot. This will allow you to hang them without the metal ornament hooks.
