Facials are meant to help blood circulation in your face, it cleans out pores, it moisturizes, it hydrates, it heals, it helps eliminate extreme oiliness, and it is very relaxing. If you ever had a facial from a professional (at a beauty salon or spa) you know that they can be very expensive. I'm talking anywhere from $50 to a couple hindered dollars. Ouch! Really, who wants to spend that much money per facial a couple times a month?
Today I'm going to help you cut the cost on facials and make them at home. Don't worry, its not too hard.
First you need to identify your skin type: Oily, dry, or normal?
Oily skin - Best way to identify oily skin is to look for the following: After you wash your face, does it appear oily again around 30 minutes later? If you don't moisturize your face, does it still appear oily? Do you have large pores? If you have some of these conditions, you more than likely have oily skin.
Dry skin - Does your skin feel really tight when you smile or do any sort of mouth movement? Is your skin rough to the touch or flaky when you scratch or itch it? Do you appear to have no pores at all? If you have some of these conditions, the odds are, you have dry skin.
Normal skin - Does your skin feel perfectly fine after you wash it? Does your skin remain at the right amount of moisture level after you wash your face (this means no extra oils forming or having a tight feeling)? Are your pores only visible when you look really hard in a close up mirror? If you don't moisturize your skin at night, does it still appear to be perfectly fine and moisturized in the morning when you wake up? If you answered yes to some of the following, you more than likely have normal skin. This is a good thing.
Now we can move onto making the mask right for you. Make sure you have clean skin before you apply the mask. This means remove all makeup and freshen up again.
The dry skin mask:
You will need olive oil, one egg white, finely ground infant oatmeal, and honey. That's it!
Combine in a medium bowl, 2 teaspoons of olive oil, the one egg white, and 1 teaspoon of honey. Add a little baby oatmeal to stop the mask from running all over. It won't take a lot. Let the mask batter sit in the refrigerator for a couple minutes and then apply. Let the mask sit on your face for about 30 minutes (longer if you'd like).
The normal skin mask:
You will need one peach, strawberries, one papaya, honey, and baby oatmeal.
Cook the peaches and mash the papaya. In a medium bowl combine, ¼ cup of your cooked peaches, ¼ cup of mashed papaya, 1 large strawberry, and 2 teaspoons of honey. Stir together well and make sure everything is blended in. It may be a good idea to use a blender to mix this one. After the batter is smooth, add a little baby oatmeal for texture and let sit in the refrigerator for a couple minutes. Let the mask sit on your face for about 30 minutes.
The oily skin mask:
You will need one apple, honey, and baby oatmeal.
Cut the apple in half and cook. After the apple is cooked mash it until smooth. Now in a medium bowl combine, the cooked-mashed apple, 1 teaspoon of honey, and a little bit of baby oatmeal. I would just sprinkle the oatmeal lightly on the batter and then stir. Let sit in the refrigerator for a couple minutes before you use it. Let the mask sit on your face for about 30 minutes.
